timing help
 
hi guys need some help with igition timing.
how do i set ignition timing and what should it be on my engine with the following spec.
1. 2.7 JE 95:5 piston
2 weber 40 IDA
3 S cam
4 SSI
5 MSD 6A

I'd be pleased to offer instructions and timing values but I need to know what octane gas you use,...:)

Assuming that you have a timing light and that your point gap is spot on, loosen the distributor hold-down and rev the motor to 6K for a brief moment while turning the distributor to get 30 degrees total timing. The timing marks are on the lower crank pulley, as you know.

It might take a few tries to hit the 30 degree mark and don't forget to tighten the distributor hold-down after you are done.

Thats a conservative number for your hot weather.
