touch up paint, what kind of brush
I have some of the paint left over from a respray done about ten years ago.I would like to dab some here and there to cover up some of the many tiny pencil tip sized chips I have under the bonnet and on the bonnet. What kind of brush or tip should I use,and has anyone had any success in doing this before.Other than the few chips that I have the paint is probably an 8 or 8.5 out of ten so I don't need a total respray or anything.Any replies would be welcome.

Go to your local hobby shop and pick up some brushes - 00 and 000 size will do you fine.

Best tip I ever got for touching up stone chips was to use either a match stick or a cocktail stick instead of a brush. Brushes usually apply too much paint, whereas using the end of the matchstick/cocktail stick enables you to build up relatively thin, accuartely placed layers.
Try it, it works Ian |

+1 on matchstick...but I have always used paper matches. if it's too wide, you can trim it with a razor.

Brushes hold too much paint for most paint chips.
Like others have said, take a match..cut it at an angle. With a very small sharp tip you can now touch up any chip no matter what the size. Great color! Is it a simple name like light blue, or ??

+1 paper matchstick. Bend the paper match back and forth several times, then tear it out of the book. There will be several small fibers that you can fluff up, then trim the match to the right width or sharpness. It hold the paint just right so that you can use several applications to build up the paint to fill in the chip.

wow, perfect timing on this
my "new to me" deck lid is at the shop getting painted and I will have extra left over. what about clear coat on top of the small touch up spots? Is it recommended?
I've seen kits on a few sites with touch-up pens and a clear coat pen to go over the newly applied paint. Is this overkill for a rock chip?? BTW, Nice color on the car!
