I would say the 2.5 is degrees of timing advance change and the 6890 is the new rev limit. Have no idea who made it.

Did you get an answer?

pmajak:

Did you ever get an answer as to what chip you have? I have an 89 Cab and the chip is almost identical to your post: 88/89 c/s; +2.10; 6840 9E9D. All the same except for the rev limiter...??? My car runs very good. It came from Calif and I still need to disconnect the brown wire connector going into the DME for better performance. I'm considering a Steve Wong chip and would like to know if my chip is some type of performance chip or at least to try and find out what chip I have and would the SW chip improve performance. Always looking to improve and learn..... Appreciate your thoughts.

That could be a Club-sport 911 ship , or a copy , and the rev limiter is effectively a bit more highter than a normal 3.2 , about 500 rpm more.

I'm sure Steve will chime in if he sees this post, but I'd bet the c/s does indeed stand for clubsport, and as I recall the rev limit was +400 over the regular 911 chips. I "thought" however, that Steve has posted that the other mappings (timing) on the clubsports were the same as the regular 3.2s. Steve, where are you....

Peter now has a custom chip for his 3.7 - I'd don't remember if I looked at his old chip or not. But from all I've seen, you guys are pretty much right. Most likely it's just a stock chip with a 6840 rev limit like the Clubsport, and 2 degrees more ignition timing at full throttle, which equates to about +6.5 hp. The Clubsport chip is nothing more than a stock chip with a rev limiter upped 300 rpm, it does not make more power or drive any differently. Ordering factory option M637 would have gotten you the same thing. Most of these old chips were never sophisticated enough to make radical changes to the fuel and ignition tables required to make real drivability changes and substantial torque and hp increases.

I have the OLD unknown chip on top of the other Steve Wong chips, in my garage (yes, doing lots of good there)

Steve or I will will post results once i get him the OLD chip to read.

Hi steve, i just put V2 in last night...ground was wet so I couldnt get a buttdyno test.

Also, since i sent my last dyno, i had to get the B&B 2in2out muffler. since it is a perforated baffle type muffler, i definetly lost a few Lbs of Tq. (with v1 chip).

need to schedule a dyno next week if possible...if not, then gonna be mid january as i will be in Kansas early Jan.
