a/c hose replacement !!!!
 

Anyone one just finish this chinese water torture? and have any advise on the things most people forget after they are done with the job? I'm doing hoses,filter dryer, possibly the evaporator and a rebuilt nippon compressor. All charged back up with R-12.

Put a high/low cutoff switch on the compressor so that you won't burn it up if the pressure is off. Don't forget to refill with the proper oil. Get a ProCooler (it really works).

Good for you! I'm 1/2 through the same project on my 911SC - started early this morning and after 8-hours working with a good friend, we almost have the whole thing changed out. Since I haven't finished this project yet I cannot give you any advice other then be sure to give yourself lots of time and be patient. Be sure to have enough beer and band aids.

Did this a couple weeks ago. When you are snaking all of those hoses keep the caps on until you are ready to connect them. There is a lot of crap that can get in them. Also, if you really want to be anal grab some Nylog (http://www.acsource.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=185) to seal everything up nice and tight.

Make sure to use a second wrench on all those condensors and the evaporator connections.

Also, I would pick up a procooler and lose the dryer. You have to move the hoses around a bit to install the procooler and it's easier to do while your putting in all new hoses.

Snaking the hoses in the drivers side front fender is a pain, you'll be amazed at how much s**t is trapped behind the windshield washer reserviors. I find a rock the size of a baseball! Tie a cord to the hose you pull out so you can use it to pull the new hose back through.

+1 on khamul02's advice about the plastic caps.

Not all that hard really. just tedious and dirty.

You know another thing I did (because I'm anal) is cleaned up the areas under the hoses and sprayed a bit of fresh undercoating.
