Are these CO readings ok?
I'm trying to diagnose what I perceive as a lack of power in my 3.2, though with each day I'm coming closer to accepting the possibility that it's all in my head. From my last inspection, here are my base readings:
CO: .12% HC: 34ppm NO: 270ppm The sheet also lists "test values" which is base reading X engine size in liters. Those are: CO .38 HC: 108 NO: 864 Readings done atr 1523 RPM at 15% dilution (not sure what that means). Does anything look odd here? To me the CO seems quite low but maybe that's normal. The engine has 130k on the clock with a top end done around 95k. Compression and leakdown are great. My latest thinking is that my cat may be clogged. The other day I'm in 4th at around 3500rpm (not sure what speed that =) on a slight, and I mean slight, incline. Like a couple %. I floor it and I bet I counted to 5 before I'm at 3600 rpm - it felt like the car was standing still, something is just not right. Yet it revs freely without a load, does not stumble or miss, etc. It just feels "slow" quite frankly. It accelerates ok from a start, but the "rush" at 4000 rpm feels week and it seems like it is real sluggish from 4-6k rpm, but it will get there. Could be the cat? I do notice my exhaust temp (by placing my hand in front of the tailpipe) seems very hot and pressure to me feels low. I know, not very scientific tests. I'm going to try and borrow a thermal gun to measure before/after temps to be sure, but I don't know what else to try. Clogged injectors or bad fuel pump are my next thoughts. Anyway, sorry for the ramble - any thoughts? BTW Wayne, love the new look.
