whats your theory on my sticking brakes
84 ROW 930 salvage title (engine fire ) thats been sitting ( price was right ). All 4 corners stick, I can 'barely' turn each wheel when on jacks. The car has no engine in it. The car has seen the track. It has steel brake lines on it. I have no other history. The rotors are rusted, a little warped. Vacuum issue? Collapsed lines? Rusted rotors? Master Cylinder? I plan to have someone rebuild the brakes, but for now I want to get it running and onto the road, I will spend this next winter sorting out any issues that come up from being on the road this fall. Other than sweating when I try to push this car, I have not touched the brake system yet because I dont know what Im doing

You need to replace everything from where your foot hits down to the wheels. Pedal bushings, master cylinder, brake lines (hard and soft), calipers professionally rebuilt, slides, rotors, pads and anything else in there. All of these get damaged from age and sitting. All of these will need replacing. It will only take a day to do it all properly and then you will have amazing brakes. Even your stainless lines must be replaced as they have rubber in them.

Less brakes, more gas!

Caliper pistons corroded and stuck in calipers... sounds like... take out the pads and see if you can compress the caliper pistons... I don't think its a pinched line as only that caliper would stick then. Can you bleed them?
I guess the rotor could be stuck to the pad. Also, what about screwed up wheel bearings or something totally unrelated to brakes?? Parking brake? +1 on Early Porsche's notes as well. -Michael

Its all 4 wheels, so I know its not the parking brake. I do want to unstick them so I can drive the car up and down the street to check for other issues ( motor should be installed in a few weeks ). I do plan on having the local shop do a complete brake overhaul before I use the car. The pads are not stuck to the rotors as I can turn the wheels with a lot of force, but the rust on the rotors may be the cause of the friction, but I doubt it.
