c2 conversion help...please?!?

Okay, I have the body kit...now, I bought turn signals for the front bumper and...well, I must be missing something...I received the plastic with room for a bulb but no metal backing etc...are there metal buckets I need? anyone have a diagram of all the parts I may need for the lights?

chancecasey 07-27-2007 09:14 AM

Not sure if this helps but the 4 corner lights in a C2 bumper only have holes, no backing. The bulb fixtures attach with a 1/4 or 1/2 turn to lock into the hole.

upload a photo of what you've got.

c2 bumper and turn signals

I'll try to take a shot today of the pieces...it goes into the body shop on thursday but I need to make sure I have everything in order or I am screwed on installation...so thanks for any and all help or comments.

If you only have the lights you do have a small problem. The light sockets you will need are hard to come by. I ended up buying a front wiring harness to get them. If the lights you purchased have the sockets then the lights simply attach to the bumper cover with a screw. In that case you will need to modify the wiring harmess to adapt it to the sockets.

The Porsche PET can be Googled up. It will show you the parts diagram your looking for.

germaniac 07-28-2007 08:52 AM

Ryce thanks so much...the light assemblies I have seem to be two that use bulbs and two that appear just to be reflectors...is this correct? so if I go ahead and have the front bumper portion installed, I could technically do the lights when I find the parts...I have a long-awaited appt. with the bodyshop...I am assuming there would be workable space under there between the reinforcements and the actual platic cover, right? You guys are always invaluable....have had little help here in Boca Raton, FL....ah, the days in ATL...sniff, tear, sniff...

On the back of the ligh and reflector is a bracket, the bumper should have two slots for the bracket to slide into on the side closest to the middle of the car, then is csrews down on the others side, Kevin

germaniac 07-28-2007 09:30 AM

Kevin,

The bumper is an aftermarket fiberglass reinforced piece...the mold is there for the lights...buckets if you will, but no slots...though I see the brackets on the light portion...am I correct that the other piece per side is just a reflector? I gues I am going to be doing some cutting... thanks so much for the help

Kevin Stewart 07-28-2007 09:52 AM

Hi I am sure of what you are saying but on one side of the reflector/light should be two things sticking out, you will have to cut slots for them to go in, take your time or the light will be sloppy, Kevin

c2 bodykit lights

Kevin,

Beautiful work...my 13 yr old say your car and asked if we could get Betsy repainted...she was just sprayed artic white 2 months ago! In any event, I see exactly the pieces you are talking about...I guess where I am still confused is 1) will i need to by wiring harnesses for a 964 to fit these assemblies...and

2) the light assembly piece closest to the wheel seems only to be a reflector with no opening in it whatsoever...am I correct in assuming it's just a reflector? Thanks again,

Rob

the side lightsslides into the the light closest to the center, Kevin

germaniac 07-28-2007 02:12 PM

I am only installing the turn signals and going with air ducts for the fog light buckets...I have four pieces for the turn signals...two (1 per side) have bulb openings and all seems well then the thinner pieces that are on the outer edge nearest tie/wheelwell have no opening just metallic reflector materiaL inside...that's why I am assuming they are only reflectors...all items have a 964-xxx-xxx-blah blah number...each signal assembly does connect to each other great...my bumper however is going to need to bee cut to accept them. I am wondering if the SC turn signal bulbs will retrofit or will I need a whol new harness?

Kevin Stewart 07-28-2007 08:57 PM

you really should post pictures of the bumper and what ligths you have, we are in the blind here, Kevin

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1185772877.jpg When I did mine, I had a C2 wiring harness for the light portion, and hard-wired that in. The outer pieces you are reffering to are running lights. Its not to hard to do.

c2 lights

thanks so much...the running lights....do they use a bulb as there is no space for one though there is a plastic "post" for something or other...I am going to try to get pics

MORE IMPORTANTLY..being that I have an appt with the bodyshop (they literally have to fit me in so I do not wanna cancel), will this lighting issue be able to be done AFTER the bumper is installed and when I source the harness?

Hey Rodsrsr, where'd you get the front lip?

Yo guys are invaluable...thanks again.

Rob

Rodsrsr 07-30-2007 07:11 AM

If you get the C2 wiring harness, the small blub for the running lights fits right into that post. The C2 harness will allow everything to plug right in. The only thing you will need to do is use a hole saw to drill out the correct size holes in the bumper. I got the front lip from AIR, and it was much harder to install on a glass bumper.

The front spoiler is from American International Racing, but there is a lot of cutting and modifying that needs to be done in order to make it work on a glass bumper. If you drive your car every day it wont work because its just too low. Ok for a weekend car though.

Yeah, I plan to drive it 3 days a week or so...I found a lower splitter for it but an worried about clearance and attachment. Yours looks great.
