Return oil tube question re ID

I read all of the search info but could not find anything on removing these. I thought a clip would be visible but instead I found what seems to be a rubber o ring ??? What good would an o ring do there? Does anyone recognize these and are they rebuildable. thanks Doug

Porsche Crest That is it...

Doug

From the Note Tab of Catalog part # 930-107-040-01-M157:

These oil return tubes often return oil to the ground instead of your engine case. The tubes often get damaged underneath the car and begin to leak after years of service. Replacement is a relatively easy process. For more information, please see our Pelican Technical Article, Replacing your 911 Oil Return Tubes. Use new oil return tubes and seals on your new motor for the prevention of future oil leaks. The aluminum versions are made in America, and are machined from aircraft aluminum bar stock in just two pieces - no glued or pressed-on ends like other brands that may be prone to leaking.

Thanks JJ ,I have read all the material on this but I am still confused as to which brand this is and if I can Just buy new seals. I would also like to know why a rubber seal would be sitting in a groove 1/4 inch from the overlap point? Also I cant see how you would get this off without destroying it. thanks Doug

I would say someone didnt put them together right. Our host sells a collapsable tube and the new O ring to go inside. The replacement is specific for their tube but it is massive.

These are strange!! no clips

Part of the problem is solved, I got them off with a hose clamp and leverage. It seems that there is no locking ring only 2 small orange rubber rings in the tube as a seal . It must be adjustable to a larger size and thats when the black one comes into play. It is amazing how tight this becomes with the two seals in it as it takes all of my strength to pull them apart. I would be tempted to reuse them if gaskets were available. Does anyone have any experience with these? thanks Doug

The ones I've used have a metal circlip that seats in a groove to keep the tubes from compressing. Perhaps the PO mistakenly used an O-Ring and it rolled out of the groove.

Just a guess, but shouldn't there be a circlip where the black O-ring is? I know that is how mine are set up, although I don't yet have the nice aluminum ones.

They look like Rauch & Spiegel ones from our host: 930-107-040-01-M157
Possibly this circlip would work:900-041-013-01-OEM.If not you can find a close enough version at a hardware store. When you install them fully seated, there is no sliding pressure on the circlip.Think its a "just in case it collapses" clip.

I just went through this with my Weltmeister Oil Return Tubes that the PO installed. All my circlips were installed,so I did not need to hunt for the circlips.I did replace the large o-rings at each end with the green type from our host.I believe it was 999-707-112-40-M260,but I will double check the part# later tonight. They were very tight and I do not think they will leak.I did not replace the two inner o-rings because they looked brand new,and they did not to appear to be leaking when I removed them.I just lubed them with Dow 112 and slid the tubes together.
Looking back I should have gone through the trouble of measuring the inner o-rings since I had them on the bench......

999-707-112-40-M260 were the O-rings that I used on both ends of my return tubes.
