I just cut mine off last weekend when I went to MSD, I can try and open the shrinkwrap up later on today.

Tbitz tach adapter

I lost mine and had to email Tony for directions on how to make one. I saved the email and here's a copy.

Al,

If you want to do a quick test, you can run without it. Just make sure the
"blue wire" inside the MegaSquirt is cut off as stated in the installation
guide.

The tach adaptor is basically a 5k resistor and a 24-36volt zener in
reverse. This connects to the primary side of the coil (400 volt pulses).

Let me know if this is enough, or if you still want a tach adaptor from me.

Cheers,

Tony

PS. I ended up not needing it and probably have one in the garage. Let me know if you need it and I'll send it to you.

Can someone explain this set-up to a electronic moron (me). I can solder bits together, but thats about it. What do I ask the nice person at RadioShack for and how do I know the zener is in reverse? Purdy pictures would really help.

I've got a megasquirt set-up that is partially installed. I'd just like to get a rudimentary tach signal to log AFRs and MAP before I do a partial drop to add EDIS and a 964 plastic intake.

busted! the question still stands.

I think it's just a resistor and zener diode in series, perhaps something like this but with only one input?
