Issue with old seats

I have a 79 with non-sport seats. The drivers side this am did not seem to want to hold its setting after adjusting the incline with the wheel. Every time I got it to where it felt right soon after it was back to where I started.

I this the begining of the end of these seats and is it dangerous?

yes, and yes

I don't think this is an easy fix. All the gears and cogs are burried inside the seat-back upholstery.

But, the entire seat, or just the backs, will swap left - right - if you don't mind reaching around to the center of the car to pull the back release.

If you do the entire swap, you can leave as-is , in which case the slide release will be on the outboard side, or keep the sliders on their original side by transferring to the opposite seat.

Garage
you can also buy my race seats that I just put up for sale on the classifieds section and you're local so it'd be close for you to have new seats that hold their position!

Race Seats for sale - cheap!

bkreigsr, thanks for the heads up. Was just about to have them recovered, probably not now.

Thanks Rusty but I would have the same height issue.

David, if you are going to re-upholster any how, all the guts will be exposed and its just a matter of shimming the gears closer to each other, or maybe replacing a wayward cir-clip retainer.
I think

I'll have to look into that. I'd have to be sure that its not going to break before spending the money to recover the seats.

Thanks.
