Dipstick fell in
Anybody ever drop the dipstick down the filler tube? I can't even see it to try to get it out. I can't believe I dropped it. Anybody got any suggestions?

The only one who's done this? Ha! There are oil tanks out there with four and five dipsticks in 'em. It's a common happenstance.
Don't worry about it. Leave it where it is for the rest of the life of the car. It's not going to hurt anything.

Thanks Steve. I had it with the coat hanger but it got hung up and I lost it. Time to order new one - or two

A new dipstick is what, $10- $15?
Well worth every penny, to skip the hassle trying to fish up the old... Not all sticks are magnetic, my original is but the new I bought wasn't.

As a side note, I can add that Porsche changed the MAX-level some time between 77 (as my car) and 2004 when I bought my replacement stick.
