Urgent Clutch alignment tool needed
 

Help. I need to get the motor back in tomorrow, I'm so close... but need to borrow a clutch alignment tool. If you have ever done a clutch job you probably have one. Can I borrow it for a day? I'm in Pleasanton and will drive anywhere to pick it up tomorrow. Repond to this post or call me at home in the morning at 925-426-0078.

I'd love to help you, I have two, but there are almost 2500 miles between us. Good luck.

Drive to pretty much any auto parts store, I am 99% sure it is the same as a VW. Should be about $5. To make sure, take your old clutch disk with you.

I have never needed an allignment tool.

HI caevon, If you put your new clutch on so the bolts just hold the center-plate and you can just move it with your finger, through the throw out bearing, then put the box back on and bolt up the box , now through the starter hole tighten up the clutch bolts a little more to hold the center plate in position , turn the flywheel round through the hole in the top of the bell-housing to get to the other bolts , then remove the box and tighten up evenly to pull the pressure plate to the flywheel. and do NOT forget the RING GEAR of the old pressure plate, to put on the new one.

Remember all you need to do is get it aligned enough so you can get the box on - the first time you depress the clutch the friction disc will center itself anyway.
