Lenny is a good guy in Stowe.

Jerry at EPE is a crook.

JLGarbanzo,
I can 2nd/3rd Auto Sport ENgineering in Stow. They have been exclusively Porsches for 34 years and are very knowledgable. I also had a bad experience with epe in Framingham.

I live in a town neighboring Littleton and would be glad to stop and take some photos if you are not in the area.

Cheers,
Michael

Sorry, I should have stated I haven't used either shop for service but have been by Len's in Stowe to look at a car before.

I hear good and bad about epe but knew both were at least close to Littleton.

I'm way down south and use Ken Conway in Scituate.

Good luck

Michael,

I already took a ride up from CT on Friday to look at the car and take it for a drive. The car is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. The current owner is extremely meticulous, including all the receipts from the day the car rolled off the lot. I can't even stress how OCD he is about the car (in a very good way).

The owner is asking a very fair price, and I cant find anything wrong with the car myself. I would still feel more comfortable getting a PPI, considering I just finished rebuilding my own 3.0 with broken head studs.

Now one more question:
In a funny strike of coincidence, I Googled the phone number of the owner's mechanic (978-562-7300) and what do you know...its Auto Sport Engineering.

It makes me extremely happy that a mechanic with the reputation of Auto Sport Engineering has been maintaining the car. However, would taking the car to them now be a conflict of interest?

I wouldn't recommend Rennsport. I had PPI done there just about a year ago and it was the sellers mechanic which was my mistake. He did take the car on short notice, but I received no written documentation, only a receipt for payment. Renee did spend a a lot of time on the phone with me giving me advice. He told me the car was in great shape, dry, compression good, and normal wear for the mileage. However, I brought it to my local independent who found several things wrong:

Door lock was starting to fail
oil pressure sender was bad
leaking valve gaskets very badly. I was told a valve adjustment was done not long before.
weeping oil return line
split CV boot

These were all minor things. I appreciated the fact the car was checked out on short notice, but I felt I didn't get my money's worth of information.
