Converted 3.2 - First Drive for a B-Day!
Steve has been methodically rebuilding, repairing and repainting his 80 SC. The car was purchased as a rolling tub, already converted to slant-nose cab. He put a 3.2 and 915 from a 1985 into it, built mounts for 993 seats, etc. No bumpers or lights, or front oil cooler yet just a back road 5 mile or so drive today - but it DROVE and TODAY is Steve's B-day!!
Happy B-Day my handsome husband!!!! angela

Thanks Marv! Steve has been working on this car for over two years. Getting to drive it for the first time on his big 4-0 birthday was a pretty big event! Couldn't wipe the smile off his face the rest of the day.
Also, I'm VERY impressed with the acceleration of the 3.2 in that car. I knew it would run well, but this ran much stronger than I imagined. Steve is very very motivated right now to finish it up. Even in the winter, we have nice days in southern Oregon that are cabriolet-perfect! Then when spring comes BRING ON THE ROAD TRIPS!!!! ![]() angela

Good eyes. I had purchased the car for Steve as a thrashed roller a couple of years ago. It came from Florida with a New Jersey title - no lien holders. At some point I lost the title....
![]() Couldn't get any help from the company I bought the car from and didn't have the name of the old registered owner in New Jersey. With a "short" VIN, Carfax was useless. On the recommendation of this site, I contacted a company in Las Vegas. PRovided all documentation and two weeks later got a title, registration and "surprise" license plates from the state of Maine. The plates are current so I slapped them on for the test drive. I have to take the car into our Oregon DMV to register as it will require a VIN inspection. But right now, lights aside, it is legal to drive. As the car is driving, I'll get it down to the DMV for inspection. Maybe I'll wait until the rear lights are on it. Does look awful funny though with no lights, bumpers and Maine plates in Oregon... angela

Looks great, thanks for the background on the plate. Glad you were able to work out the details.
Look forward to seeing the final product. |
