Period Roof Rack

searching around for a period roof rack for a coupe 69T.
has anyone got any shots of one 'in action' from around that time as i cant find any or knowledge or where you can get them?

i found this shot of an AMCO that was sold here ages ago - it hasnt got a rear support though and not sure if its period correct... or if they are possible to get hold of any more?

and theres this which is fantastic on 911T registry... but i've never seen one of those in reality...

Hey Frogger,

Nice rack!

(You knew someone had to say it.)

First let me say that I love the look of a 911 or 356 with skis going up the rear side. Also, I think 356s look kind of cool with that rear trunk rack. But, IMHO the lines of the 911 are messed up with a roof rack. It's not like I'd see a 911 with one of these coming down the street and I'll think "what cool classic 911 with a classic rack."

When I need a rack, I use my new Yakima rack that clamps on with all rubber covered parts and doesn't harm the car at all. When I'm not using it, it's off and in the closet.

There was a NOS roof rack for sale a month or so ago for around $2500. Finding one will be very difficult. The ski racks are slightly more common. I set one on my car recently just for kicks:

beautiful car. i think the ski rack looks purposeful and cool.
$2500 for an NOS. wow. i might commission one to be made custom, it might be cheaper.

I can take some closeups of the clamps later. Also, I'm wondering if a VW rack could be adapted somehow? There's several of these toward the bottom of this page:
