What socket gets this bracket off??
Hey All-
I'm trying to get this off but dont have a socket larger than 27mm at the moment..I might make a run to Sears if I can figure out what size it is.. Thanks, Capt. Crunchhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186000658.jpg |
The nut on top of that piece is visible inside the engine compartment. Look under the electrical panel or the fuel filter/accumulator. It's twin on the right side is under the oil filter and easier to see. The nut has a bend-up tab to prevent it backing out. If memory serves, 27mm is close--it is about the same size as the alternator nut.

You could also just try to loosen it with a crescent wrench and just turn it by hand. Some pb-blaster might help.

FWIW,
I woulld see if Harbor Freight has the socket for alot less $. This will be a limited use socket, so why pay the bucks for the name brand, when the China crap will do. |
what size is the alt nut? I'll try the crescent wrench tonight..
thanks guys |
I just yanked those on my race car, they were not connected to the fenders anyway, so that's a couple of pounds out of the rear. I used a large cresent wrench. You'll have to get in there to get the tabs bent down. It's not that tight once you have things out of the way. You would be hard pressed to get a socket in there anyway.
FYI, Harbor Freight has a large impact socket set for $20. I've used mine several times. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=34683 |
