Electrical question
A few years back I had NoHo make a combo fuel/volt gauge for me out of my stock fuel/oil level. It has worked wonderfully until recently.
When running at about 1500 rpm the gauge reads only a shade under 13v but at the battery using my hand held meter it is closer to 14v. Now, if I disconnect the fuel gauge positive the volt meter reads correctly. So...is it the fuel gauge that is faulty somehow....any guesses.? . The two gauges have a common/split pos/ground wire. Must be the fuel gauge...No? BTW, the fuel gauge seems to read correctly but I really have no way of knowing if it's off a bit. Anyone seen this before? Damn, I hate 12v electrics ![]()

If you run leads from the battery to the meter in the tach does the voltage match your hand held meter? If so, it might just be a funky ground or power connection.

Thanks for your input. I think I will try disconnecting the lead from the sending unit and see if that makes a difference. Also will call NoHo and see if they have any idea. Presently the volt gauge works anywhere as long as the fuel gauge is not connected..... As I said the pos and ground wires in that gauge hole are common...just split and go to both gauges.
Just noticed last night, also, that on my trickle charger the 'trouble' light was on, but dim, along with the charging light ??

Try a separate ground for the voltmeter.
