Short Shift Kit - is this one ?
removed the shifter today as a complete unit in order to fit my new front carpet (I now see how this all works, and will consider new bushings etc. as a straight forward project if needed).
My question is, is this a standard or short shift shifter ? The lever is 'bent' as per a short shift, whereas I had assumed a standard lever would be straight. http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...r/DSCF0812.jpg 3 further not very good photos here :- http://s124.photobucket.com/albums/p33/Highfield_Photos/Shifter/ Is a short shift kit worthwhile ? Advantages / Disadvantages ? Ian |
Nope, just a standard shifter. FYI, I can easily tell from the shape of the stamped pivot parts inside the housing in your extra pictures.

In my opinion the factory short shifer kit was the biggest improvement to my driving experience. I'd highly recommend it. And it has the major advantage of the shifter not hitting the passenger seat any more when putting it in 2nd (on RHD).

Jon - how do you find the Seine Shifter ?

Very nice, I bought the shifter kit after mistakingly shifting down from 5th to 4th and hitting 2nd. Fortunatly for me I was only doing about 70mph at the time so no harm done. But it was enough to make me do something about it.
The kit itself took me a while to install since you have to enlarge the existing opening in the shifter housing when its used in conjunction with the short shifter kit. But once everything was installed and adjusted I was very happy. No more mis-shifts and makes the 915 feel more like a modern box. I would definatly install one again if I ever got another porsche with 915. Jon |
