I've got a line on a 69 911e that could possibly still have the hydro-pneumatic struts (it's been sitting for 15 years, and has pretty low mileage). I found enough from earlier posts to tell whether it's been converted the next time I look at it. But, if it hasn't does anyone have a sense of what the used parts for a front suspension swap cost these days? I'm trying to figure that into the "what's this thing going to cost me" equation.
Also, from earlier posts it appears that some of the 69's didn't have the "socket" built in that would allow the conversion to the regular torsion bar suspension. Can anyone tell me what to look for to make sure the conversion can happen if it hasn't? I did find enough of a parts breakdown to know to look for the ride height adjusters to see if it has been converted. Thanks, tim |

Used prices:
A-arms: $100 - $150 3.5 Boge/Bilstein/Koni struts: $250 - $400 OEM torsion bars: Free, typically price of shipping Steel Crossmember: $50 - $100 some parts may or may not be reusable like ball joints. Cheap insurance to replace now. You could fine an entire front suspension from a 74-83 for $500 + shipping. With new inserts, ball joints, pin, etc., you could easily hit $750 but have a fresh set-up. I've got an OK set of A-arms from my E that I'm not using, torsion bars (stock and SC/early Carrera dia.), steel crossmember, lots of hardware (new and used like the crown nut under the ball joint), etc. if you are interested. I've also got a complete front suspension from a 70. It has 3 inch ears, but brakes and hubs are included. Where in the country are you?
