Is there an aftermarket 3-point seat belt option that does not have an inertia reel?
I'm looking for a street legal seat belt that mounts in the stock locations and does not have an inertia reel. I'm want a high quality belt that will keep me in the seat for autocross and DE without a harness or roll bar. And I'd like to avoid paying for an inertia reel that I won't use.
The Schroth "Rallye 3 asm" looks like it might work but I can't tell for sure. http://www.hmsmotorsport.com/store/schroth/street-legal/rallye |
When I used to autocross I would lean the seat back a little, sinch the belt up and pull the belt hard enough to lock it and then keep tension on it. Then I would lean the seat forward/upright until I was pressing on the belts. The belts would then stay locked.

You might try this option. I have not used it myself but many have and like it.

I bought mine from another source (not our gracious host here) so PM me if you want info.

Try contacting Professionally Engineered Products (www.peparts.com) and tell them what you need. Any early 911 belt style may fill your need. Perhaps:
KT109-3-NON-901 SKU: KT109-3-NON-901 Porsche 912/911 1965-1968. A three-point non-retracting seatbelt system with a vintage style chrome aircraft receiver and chrome snap-in end fittings. This system bolts into factory seatbelt provisions. Shoulder point hardware is included, eye-bolt kits are sold separately. SPECIFY: Left or Right. http://www.peparts.com/stores/pepart...T109_3_NON.jpg |
Thanks for the posts everybody!

HarryD,
I like your idea best so far. I just talked with Trampas at PEP and it looks like that option would require minimal mounting complexity but still be as safe as the original belts. Are you using these belts on your 911? |
