Car won't start...

I have been removing an old car alarm that was in the car and without really thinking I started cutting wires that were only connected to the brain of the alarm.

Now the car will not turn over at all. I am certain that it is something with electrical, and the starter. My thoughts are that I have removed the power from the battery to the starter, or from the ignition to turn over the starter.

Where should I start looking as I am at a loss to be honest.

Thanks for the help.

Garrison,
I feel your pain! I had an old Hofco burglar alarm that was causing an intermittent no start condition and I finally gave up and took it to my buddy's shop (Tab Tanner at Autobahn Garage in Findlay, OH) and he removed it. I'm severely color-blind, so the wiring schematics didn't do me much good... My alarm was connected to the ignition and fuel pump circuits... Good luck!

Thanks... I am figuring that is going to be my best bet... because electrical is not something that I like to mess with at all....

Should have left it alone, but I wanted a cleaner engine bay...

I would start by following the path of the yellow wire coming out of the ignition switch. I think it ends up at the solenoid.

Make sure the electrical plugs above the ignition switch and behind the dash did not come out during your alarm surgery.

I think the yellow wire has been cut...and this is where I am going to begin with the fix. Just hard to do when you have an active 2 year that loves the "Porsha"...

I agree with Cliff. I bet the yellow wire goes into and comes out of the alarm box. That is the starter solenoid signal wire from the ign. switch. If you're fortunate, you still might have the original Hofco wiring diagram somewhere. Your fuel pump activation circuit might also be affected.
