sc targa cage

Does the coupe roll cage go into the Targa? I realize it may not fit as tight, but will it go? I can't find a good option for the targa. Thanks.

Your best option is going to be a custom cage. It's important the cage fit properly. Don't try and use a coupe cage in a targa.

The roof line is definitely different. Because of this I'm a not 100% sure if the height behind the driver seat and at the top of the windshield are the same as a coupe, but I don't think they are. It's been years since I've had a targa, so I don't have any way to confirm. I'm still in the belief that a custom made cage is no more expensive and will be a better fit then something bought off the shelf. Since the targa top is not as strong as a coupe's roof, you want to make sure the cage will protect you in case of the worst.

While I can not argue the information Mark presented. I've used an Autopower roll bar in the past, and I was OK with that, but I'm still not a fan of off the shelf roll cages. A custom cage will be stronger and a better fit. That's just my opinion.

I tried an RSR-replica Coupe rollbar in my '71 Targa - it didn't fit. Not even close. I have subsequently installed a TRE RSR-style Targa rollbar. I was shocked by the increased stiffness the bar has made to the car!

Just a rollbar made a difference in stiffness in your targa, not a cage?

I'm planing to install a bolt in cage during the winter.
