Requiring ear pieces with cell phones while driving would make a huge difference. Singapore has been doing it for a decade now, and I never had issues while I was living/driving there. Now, If I see someone on the road doing something stupid, 99.9% of the time they have a phone up to their ear.

Just like ear pieces, GPS uses a voice prompt, and assists you with focusing on the road. How many times have you been following someone looking at a map, and they are either going way below the speed limit, or they slam on their brakes?

I like how you guys are setting up your GPS systems out of the field of vision. Its giving me some good idea's for mine.

You could also get a indash cd player with flip out screen that has nav capacity.
Kenwood makes a nice one. I think it would cover everything you outlined earlier. Has nice big display as well.

I had thought about this b/c it would be a quick swap out, but wouldnt the screen hit the dash when it is folded out?

Check with local stereo shop on wether it will hit dash. Again would cover all or most of your wish list. A lot of bells and whistles with a nice flip out unit. I dont know if you have to subscribe to a service for gps. Might ask stereo shop.

Thought about getting a GPS unit, but I got a Blackberry Curve recently which has a GPS along with email, MP3, texting, phone, internet, videos, pics, camera, and full keyboard. Goes with you too. Doesn't have voice but not a big deal.

Rusnak and Kees, sorry to veer off topic, but I have the same colour interior as your cars. Mine is a 1985. Do you know that interior colour code is for this car and what the colour is called?

PET states part # 30B Blue no code

I always call it "Navy Blue". I am not aware of any color code, but if you know where I should look for it, I'll look at get back to you on that.

When I want a color match on the carpet, I buy Porsche Navy Blue. The seats and leather can be matched if you want to find this color, I know it matches perfectly with "Navy Blue" by a brand of spray dye called "Nu Kote" or something like that. It's a dead on match.

According to the Porsche brochure 1985 ROW(which I recently bought):

dark blue

The USA brochure only says: blue

You can download the 1985 USA brochure:

I use the Nuvi 250. It sits perfectly in the open ashtray. No mount, no power. Toss it in the glove box.
