An overdue hello with a car pic......
....and many thanks for past help and entertainment. Thank you also to our host for providing such a valuable resource. I have been an observer of this forum for some time and have finally registered and become a card-carrying member. Hopefully I can make some contributions in the future.
I have always been interested in cars in general and sports cars in particular. To give you an idea of my taste, here are some of the machines of interest that I have owned. Most were daily drivers and were well used when purchased. 1964 MGB (new!) 1971 Fiat 124 Spider 1971 Datsun 510 1976 Alfa Spider 1983 Alfa GTV6 1985 VW GTI 1987 Toyota Corolla FX16 1987 Mazda RX-7 My present toy is a wonderful, well preserved, 1987 911 coupe with 120k miles that I have owned since 1999. It is stock except for the addition of turbo tie rod ends and Steve Wong chip, both highly recommended upgrades. The photo shows me in my car explaining the operation of the heating and AC controls to my new grandson. A few more sessions will be required to complete the job. I live in Woodstock, Illinois which is about 50 miles NW of Chicago and an easy drive from Road America where I have spent a significant portion of my adult life. I'm heading up there this weekend for the ALMS race. I'd love to hear from any local Pelicans. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1186673207.jpg |

Sweet car and welcome to the board

Great looking 911 Chuck.
I can see you are a man of infinite wisdom and taste to own a 1987 vintage 911 (the very best year) and a 1971 Fiat 124 Spider (my very first car). My two year old grandson Nate asks to sit in my/his 911 every time I see him (3x per week). He is content to pretend he is driving for a good 20 minutes or so before I snatch him out from behind the wheel. This has been going on for months! Enjoy your new grandson and Porsche! Mike |
Welcome. Nice car, great model. We have a couple of Guards Red cars around here, so I guess we like that too. ;)

Welcome... nice looking Carrera.
I like that you are getting himstarted EARLY! the world needs a new generation of P-car owner. He may very well be the next generation of Pelican. |
Great to meet ya, my dad and I arnt going to RA for ALMS but we will be there for 1 day on track with the PCA. If you wanted to come up and check it out, just let me know. My father and I have gotten a bit deep in the hobby.

chuck, that's a great picture. It's always nice to say hi to another car guy, especially another Porsche guy, and more so when the Porsche guy is a racing fan.

Welcome! I'm a former Austin Healey (Mk II and III) and Triumph (TR6) guy and still have one of the most important tools... :D
