Angry Do any of you under 6' tall feel the 911/930 cars have low rider seats?

...I don't know, ... my seats are so comfortable that I just kind of melt down into them and feel like I am riding a bit too low. I only have a couple inches from my hair to teh headliner. ...... I was thinking of adding some 3/4" height adjust rails to the seats since there is no height adjust. Anyone here ever do that?

I like riding low. My 85 cab has the seats cranked down to the lowest setting.

I'm concerned that if I ever want to track the car that I can't get a helmet on. Make sure you can wear a helmet before you add risers, Maxx1.

There have been spacers made to bolt in and raise the seat.
The pop up on ebay sometimes or make some yourself as others have done.

I feel the seat height is just fine. Do you have stock seats with stock mounting hardware?

Yes, they are stock seats. Actually I fabbed some 3/4" risers out of square aluminum stock last night and they worked nice. My seats of course have no height adjust, so this is the only way. Just a little bit made a nice difference. I'm only 5'7" so I won't have to worry about helmet clearance issues if I ever go that route.

I see, you're a bit shorter than I am so it all makes sense.

Ya know, I really don't understand posts like this one, with all due respect...

I have an 85 Carrera with power seats and sunroof, probably the worst combo for low seating height ( 84's and 86's are at least 3/4" lower on perch height, and MANUAL sport seats place you MUCH lower).

With my normal-proportion body at 5'-8"...my head ( hair) kisses the headliner at the seat's LOWEST setting. The ability to RAISE the seats ??? ....big deal, you'd have to be 4'-9" for that feature to make any difference... !!!!

So my answer is "NO"....quite the opposite actually ....

This effect probably varies considerably among 911s. In my 72E targa, I feel like I am sitting super low, with that "down in a bucket feel" - lots of space over my head, and when resting the arm on the windowsill, feels like I have to angle it way up too high. My height = 5'9". A fix for this using spacers is on my long to-do list for this project car...

I imagine things are way different in the SC/Carrera coupe cars with their false roof assemblies for the sunroof, and with power adjustable seats that can be cranked up high, and mount differently than the early cars.

Yes (for 5'11+" me in a '73). I also like to sit rel. high in a car and will give up a minor Cg to get it.

Be very careful if you fab your own spacers - they and their new bolts must withstand the forces in an accident or you will not worry about seat ht. ever again.

I bought a Recaro piece from that seatbelt place (PEP?) that lets you set various hts. The wt. is in the Interior tab of my Excel database I've posted before if you want it.

I have the manual sport seats. I sit so low, that if I were to crouch on the balls of my feet like a baseball catcher, that is the same height as if I were sitting in my 911.

One major major benefit of sitting so low is that you have better feel and therefore control over what the car is doing in terms of grip and weight transfer. Vic Elford mentions this briefly in his driving book.
