M+K Baffle Install Mod
I didn't feel like drilling holes in the tailpipe of my polished M+K 2-in 1-out in order to install the baffle. So I drilled a 9/64" hole on either side of the baffle, threaded the holes with a 4x0.7 tap and installed 2 8mm hexhead set screws in the holes with the hexhead on the inside of the baffle. Then I pushed the baffle in the tailpipe and tightened the set screws using blue Locktite.

You might want to use ellipitical lock nuts instead. Blue locktite will melt.

When I was an engineer we had a saying...
"Set Screws Suck" I can't tell you how many times I had to rework a 1st years design to get rid of the set screws. My bet, that thing will be out of your tail pipe in less than 5000 miles with the vibrations and the heat cycles... Unless you tighten it such that the shapes are deformed enough to keep it in there hehehe... and you can forget the lock tight... not enough threads to grip :) Best regards, Michael |
