Backdating questions - Opinions sought

I have a white 78 coupe sporto with non-electric windows, complete original unmolested never been damaged never been painted car.

I've spent the last 12 months ensuring the mechanicals are spot on and now am pondering the interior and body which are looking rather tired

So I started thinking... I love the longhoods..maybe I should backdate, since I'm considering paint and changing all the moulds rubbers etc.. and new seats

Years ago I updated my 930 to a C2 look and kinda regretted it and now update looks are sought of frowned on..

So is backdating something that I might regret in years to come.. by the way I'm not worried on how it will affect cars price as I have no intention on selling it ..

Oh and backdate to original look not RS or anything like that, just a standard looking longhood

Just unsure which path.. backdate or renovate .. what you guys think?
