Replacing shocks/alignment

Do i need to do a alignment after replacing just the shocks on a 84 carrera??

My guess is that i wont change the suspenson setting by replacing the shocks..
Am i right??

I didnīt. But then you will probably here opposite opinions too. That for example installing new gas shocks instead of the old hydraulic ones, the ride hight will change to a degree it will affect the alignment. Generally I do not think just changing the inserts will matter much.

Im just thinking that eaven if the rideheight is affected, by adjusting the rideheight to the same height as before i should have the same settings!

Thatīs what I thought too. As a precaution I had an alignment done afterwords (I upgraded to the turbo tie rods at the same time), and it was spot on. But maybe I just got lucky. :)

However, I did not touch the rear ride hight. Too intimidating for me. It does sit a little high to the eye, but as I said the alignment was perfect.

That said, changing inserts hardly did anything to my ride hight. Maybe 5-10 mm.

It's not a bad idea to check your alignment periodically regardless.
