Pulley Seal pics
This morning I was in a panic, on how am I going to pull the Pulley Seal out of my car. I search the board, and found no pictures to help out with the process, so now since I got the pulley seal out, I wanted to share with other how easy it was to get out.
I was in the area of the Pulley Seal, only because I thought my oil leak was coming from the Intermediate Shaft Cover Gasket. After replacing the gasket, I started the engine (on jack stands), and found my leak is coming from behind the the pulley. I put the car in 4th gear, with parking breaks on, I broke free the 17mm pulley nut, with the use of a breaker bar. I was wondering if the nut was treaded back-wards, but it's not. Behind the puller, there was the pulley seal. I didn't know if the seal was solid, steal, rubber or what. The seal is made out of steal, with a light rubber coating all around. The inner part of the seal is like a skirt. I took a screwdriver, put it in the inner seal next to the shaft, and pried it out. It's hollow on the backside. Here is some pics of the seal, in case someone is wondering what they are up against... ![]() ![]() ![]() my shaft messured 29.97mm... The seal I pulled out says it's 30 x 50 x 10, which is only a couple years old, but I have been battling high oil pressure, which I will save for another topic. the undersize 29.5 x 50 x 10 seal cost about $50 by our host and it could take 10 days to get the part, so I opted for the inexpensive 30 x 50 x 10. We will see how this one holds up. I will send out an update on if I should have gone with the 29.5, instead of the 30.

Just noticed something odd... there is no spring running around the inner underside of the seal! Should there be a spring, like what you would find on a front wheel seal?

never mind... I found the spring, it flew across the room when I pried the seal out.
