3.2 carrera auto heat problems
Hi Guys,
Car is an 88 3.2 carrera with auto heat. The rotary switch in between the seats does nothing from what i can see. Servos are stuck with the flappers closed, so heat is always comming into the cabin. Fuses under the front hood and in the engine compartment are fine. Any ideas where to start with troubleshooting? Thanks, Adam |

First thing to check is to see if the rod that opens the servos has popped off under the rotary dial housing.

The flappers are usually the culprit that start things not working - they get tough to move, the servo works hard putting stress on the plastic bits, the control arms etc and it is downhill from there. If you cannot move the flappers easily you cannot expect that cheesy servo to do it either. Best thing is go to manual heat or make sure you recondition the flappers so they move like butter.

nar, i've been under the car before, and the flappers are fine, despite a bit of surface corrosion.
Will check if they've popped off inside the centre heater control console. But i doubt it, because the flappers can't be moved by hand more then just the slack, so i suspect that they are still attached to the servo horns. |
