Any Pix Of Carrera W/O Front spoiler?

I'm curious as to what an 84'-89' Carrera would look like without the front spoiler?

In a thread of mine from a long time ago someone said this was a factory option.

Of all of the Carrera's I've seen they've all had front spoilers ....

Should be lot's of pics in the archives, I'll go find one...almost all Carreras that don't have a tail, will not have a front spoiler either...

edit: here's a link: Just cleaned up (just pics)

pps: Oops, livi beat me too it...

Is the front spoiler just that 'add-on' black rubber lip at the bottom of the front valence?

Yep. Designed to be used in conjunction with a tail on the back end to keep the car somewhat planted at speed.

Great ... Thanks. I also have the tail.

I was thinking about removing the tail and going with a regular decklid.

Would that look odd with that front spoiler? I'm thinking not.

I'm also considering going to the Euro bumperettes or none at all.

Anyone have pics of any of these scenarios?

It's not so much an appearance thing...it'll look great either way since it's a 911 , but the tail and front spoiler need to be used in conjunction with one another or the aerodynamics of the car will be upset at higher speeds. In other words, either keep both of them or remove both of them.

Makes sense .... what kind of speeds are we talking about?

I disagree with the above statement. Everything I have read indicates that it is okay to run a front spoiler without a tail, but NEVER run a tail without a front spoiler.

+1

The rear spoiler helps keep the rear planted and without the front spoiler you would get increased front end float.

FWIW - My '78SC has the front spoiler but no rear spoiler. As of this morning it sticks pretty good at 120mph.

+1 on what Scooter said. I have run my car with a front spoiler only and the car's rearend felt "lighter" & "looser" at high speeds in comparison to running the car with front spoiler and rear tail in which the car felt much more planted & stable.

70mph + felt sloppy, even worst if it was windy...

Without a rear tail, I think the lines of the Carrera really stand out.

Rear deck lid w/o a wing and euro bumperettes. Never mind the ugly aftermarket rims and the bling RS badge. PO´s maneuver, now removed.

You're going to find mixed opinions about this (much like oil ), and I'll defer to the experts who maintain "both or none". In reality, it's probably a moot point at "sane" speeds, my car has neither, and it's planted for the speeds I attain.

I do look to the experts, as I am not one. I just research and come to my own conclusions based on what I find. I don't believe one could have purchased an SC or Carrera with a tail without a front spoiler, but I do know that Porsche offered a front spoiler without a tail.

Here are some pics with and without:
