will 16 inch fuchs fit an older 911 ?

I have a set of fuchs 16 inch by 6 fronts and 16by 7 rears. with worn out 225 50 r 16's on back and 205 55 r16's on the front. I have a friend with 72 i thinnk 911 targa. Will these fit? It's one of the long hoods without the carrera fender flares. This assuming of course his new tires will be the same size. He is worried that the tires will rub. he has the car out of state so he cant just drive it over and put them on to check. currently he has 15 inch cookie cutters off of a 944

See the fitment chart here:

The old bodies are at the bottom of the page.

It will actually depend on the car. With the old bodies, some will fit and some won't. You might also need to roll the fenders. The issue is with the 7" in the rear.

I would not recommend it. Others might have some magic formula like increase negative camber "a lot" , I would not try it with the 225's, the fronts will not be the issue. They will fit fine as fenders are the same.

my car runs 4 16x6 Fuchs now without any fender rolling.

It will not run 4 911 16x7 Fuchs without serious mods.

It will soon run 4 951 16x7 Fuchs with slight rolling if necesary.

all wheels have been and will further run 205x55x16

I am running 205/50-16 up front on 911 6" fuchs, and 225/45-16 on 951 7"rears. In the rear rolling and MAJOR negative camber neccesary, and they still don't really fit

This is a perfect example of what "dlagerstrom" said a few posts above about each car being different. I ran 16x7 951 wheels with 225/45/16 tires and had tons of room with rolled fenders and a standard sport alignment (i.e. no crazy camber). In fact I had enough room to run 6mm spacers for a while! I DO have rolled fenders and I DO have aluminum trailing arms but I think I recall that the aluminum arms actually decrease fender clearance a tiny bit.

Now, I have 16x8 951 wheels on the rear with 225/50/16 tires and am pretty sure I have minor rubbing under VERY extreme circumstances, although I can't really see any marks on the body or tires. I do have 28mm torsion bars in the rear which likely help reduce rubbing.

So, your results may vary - unfortunately.

Good Luck

Since the offset is the same for 911 and 951 7x16" Fuchs (both are 23.3mm), why are you expecting a different result with the 951 type? All it has is more brake caliper overhang clearance on the spokes--there is no difference in fitment in the wheel well with the 951 7" vs. the 911 7" like there is with the 8x16".

your correct. I screwed up my message again.

i'm installing 930 brakes and it's not worth the work without new brakes.
