$50 and a few tools.....better shifting in G-50
Just did the DIY motor mount replacement in my 88 g-50 and it was well worth the time and expense. the original motor mounts didn't look severely tired and the motor while revved in neutral didn't move or twist about, but shifting at 5000 rpm+ i would feel a little "looseness/sloppyness" in the shifter. i picked up a pair of the heavy duty/sport mounts and saw that the thickness of the sleeve wall in the new mount was about three times as thick as the OEM mount. then when the mounts were out and i stuck a large screwdriver in the sleeve and moved it about you could see how shot they really were. BIG diff in the shifting now much more precise and solid. next are the trans mounts. highly recommended project big rewards for miniumal work and cost. use a good, beefy jack and push the motor up all the way before backing out the large bolts so you dont stress the threads in the crossbar.

Good post. I think this will have to be my next project. I have no severe indication my mounts should be shot, but as you found, they could be in a bad condition anyway.
And anything that even slightly improves on the shifting in a 915 is worthwhile..
