'66 911 A-arm removal
I'm having a problem getting A-arm out of the crossmember. Before I resort to the BFH, I thought I'd ask the collective wisdom if I'm missing something.
Torsion bar adjustment bolt's out, bar's out, front bolts are out, allen bolt that goes in the clamping part of the crossmember is out...what don't I see? Do I need to remove the bolt that holds the crossmember to the chassis? It doesn't appear to be holding the A-arm in, such as on post '67 cars. I don't recall having any problems when I took these off my '68. ![]()

that should be all, but usually the bushing portion gets 'frozen' in the crossmember. You can heat it up, use the BFH, or simply undo the other side, drop the whole assembly and then work it out using a penatrating oil.

Did you remove the bolt in the brace right hand side of the pic follow the edge up and you will see it halfway up

Thanks for the help. I got 'em out.
PB Blaster is my friend. I jacked the arms up and forced them back down with a crowbar a bunch of times while spraying PBB is the middle of the clamp and around the forward end of the collar. Forget getting the arms out of the bushings...the only way they were coming out was to get the collar out of the crossmember. I was finally able to twist them out. I'm gonna be a hurtin' unit tomorrow. Then, into the vise and drill out the bushings. Sprayed PBB down the holes in the rubber and twisted the outer collar off with channel locks. 4 freakin' hours later I accomplished a 1 hour job. I'm getting better! Next up, replace the single circuit master cylinder with a newly rebuilt dual circuit unit...and all the associated plumbing. Stay tuned for that whole can of worms thread.
