Exhaust part cracked can it be welded?
Hi,
While dropping my engine to fix oil leaks, I had to remove my muffler. There is a support bracket(?) after you remove the muffler that has cracked and looks like it has been this way for years. I don't know what to call it, so I am having a hard time finding the part number. Is it inexpensive or can it be welded? Thanks! Also, if you have a moment and can give any advice, please read my other thread. Looking for help re: my chains and more Thank you!!! This piece is staring to crack, but it looks like a welder might be able to save it. ![]() Not sure about this. Looks like it has been broken for a while. Any idea of the part number? ![]() ![]()

Ok, found the part number for the broken piece in the second pic, but the picture of the item in the PP parts is different, but the parts view page shows the right part. 930-111-151-01-M100 $20.50. If it's correct, I'll splurge and by it.

Dave,
I'd buy the part. I tried JB Weld on a hole on mu heat exchanger this past weekend and it didn't hold... I need to get it welded, I guess...

The pipe from pic 1 looks like the heater crossover pipe, connecting heat exchangers side-to-side...for a cheapo-fix, I'd think a large hose clamp or similar method of fastening the crossover pipe to the muffler bracket would do the trick for a few bucks (I have been know to temporarily use bailin' wire for such tasks, though not on my 911... at least not yet). Or, as PBH said, just weld it. Only purpose seems to be to hold up the back of the pipe - the silicone connector sleeves to the heat exchangers probably won't hold the tube for too long.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think the pipe is cracked. It just looks like the piece of metal that is tacked on is cracked. I will take a closer look when I go back to the car. As for the other part, I'll buy a new one.
