help Installing 23mm non boosted M/C
 

Hello all

I am trying to install my 23mm MC and I am having trouble installing the front hard line into the front of the MC. I have the plastic hose adaptor, but the hard line has a trumpet end that makes it almost impossible to stretch the blue flex line over. What do others do? I have thought about getting my pipe cutter and cutting the trumpet off, but I fear that even with a hose clamp the tube, having no barb of any sort, will leak. I have thought about removing the line and grinding down some of the trumpet, but it looks like a pita to remove the line. Any thoughts, comments?

Cut that end off with your tubing cutter and clamp the blue hose on. There is no pressure in that line and they do not leak as long as the hose is the correct size and a good Norma clamp is used.

I will I will! I just realized that the fitting for the front is a 45 and not a 90. It hits the bellows. Now I need to find the 90 fitting. I made a rod spacer that is about 1" as per your instruction. Thanks for the help!

The MC kit I bought from VCI came with a 90 degree barb plastic fitting, so I just bought some blue brake line hose and attached it from the MC to the reservoir, here is an old pic.

I've only driven the car about 100 miles, so far so good.

The picture above is not complete, still missing the other brake line, machinig the banjo bolt on the lower left and rubber grommets around the blue hose.

In my 30 years experience of working on cars that was probably the most frustrating thing I have ever done. I had to step away a few times before something/someone got hurt. I had tremendious trouble getting the 45 degree fitting in the MC. I finally wrapped a string around it so I could pull it straight down. Even with the alum. cross member there is no room. The 90 degree fitting might work better. I have two on standby if my 90 degree one falls out.

I remember putting the old 19mm one in. My cat still has a complex from all of the cussin !

Put the 90 on the M/C on your work bench.

We use that 45 deg fitting here all the time and with steering rack spacers, it doesn't foul the rubber boots,.......:)
