Electrical issues....I need help!!!

Just got a SC with a host of electrical issues. For starters,
1. the fuse that controls the brakes and turn signals would go out everytime I step on the brake pedal.
2. if I turn on the headlights, then my turn signals wouldn't work.
3. does anyone know how the connections go for the power window switches for the passenger window (driver control and passenger control)?
Thanks very much.

My 83 also came with a pile of electrical issues. I made a point of removing all the non factory stuff (alarms, stereos, bits of ancient cell phones and/or radar detectors) along with its associated aftermarket wiring.

1. sound like a short to ground downcircuit from the peddle switch. I'd check all the bulbs first to see if water has got into the sockets and shorted them
2. check the wireing at the light switch. Maybe something has been plugged into wrong blade. Could be light switch itself. Dig out yout volt/ohm meter and start tracing stuff
3. driver side passenger window switch
Term 1 : red/white
Term 2: Red/black
term3: Single red/blue
Term 4: Brown
Term 5: Double Red/blue

Passenger side switch
T1: Blue
T2: Blue/black
T3: Red/White
T4: Brown
T5: Red/black

I also had electrical problems, I found that i needed to replace my corner-side marker light housing, the other side was wired in reverse, couldn't get my new fog lights to work and finally today i removed the fresh air blower to get to the fog switch, it was no good. i hooked my fogs to the rear window defrost switch and they worked just fine. i just ordered the new switch for the fog's. I referred to the 911sc Bentley manual for help, get one as soon as you can, if you don't have one already! Remember to disconnect the (-) on the battery before doing any electrical work. i almost started a fire today! thank god nothing major! Good luck!!

Electrical Wiring Connections.....

Poorsch,

What particular connection/s in your power window switches you're interested? I have a complete wiring diagrams for several SC's. What's your car model year? Although, I don't see any difference in wiring for '81 and 82SC but it's good to know.

Your power window switches have 5 (five) terminals labelled as 1. 2. 3. 4. & 5 for each switch and 3 separate switches. Two at the driver side and one at the passenger side. Below are the wire color at each terminal:
Ter.#------ DS SW------ PS SW(@DS)-----Passenger side door
1 --------- black---------red/white----------black
2----------green-------- red/black----------green
3----------red---------- red ---------------red/white
4----------brown------- brown -------------brown
5----------red --------- red--------------- red/white

Do you find any wire different from about table? Let us know and good luck.

Tony

First thing to do is buy the Bentley manual for the 911 SC. The wiring diagrams are spot on. I've been chasing wiring problems while re-assembling my car and found that between advice from this board and the Bentley manual it's saved me from paying someone.

DavErb,

We have differences in our wire color coding. I got mine from Porsche Shop Manual ( section IV for '81 & '82 SC) and double checked them again tonight using the Bentley Manual for SC. Both manuals show different wire color coding from your "suggested colors". Please advise. Thanks.

Tony,
Sorry for not listing year of car. It is a 79 SC. Thank you to everyone for the info.
