Brake booster issue?

So I've been tracking a strange vacuum leak in my 80' SC, and it appears to be in the booster. I searched the archives, for about an hour with all the posts on "brake" and "break" booster issues. I think I have one, but I want to be SC specific. If I block off the booster line my vac level goes from 50kph to 30kph. Second, if I press the pedal and start the car, nothing!

This is the strange part, the poster holds vacuum to some extent, however it pulsates on the dial. I know it's dead, but i just want to know how these things are supposed to stop. My SC feels like it takes a ton of leg to slow it down, and I can't lock it up, ever.

Brake Booster Vacuum Line.....

Scott,

Your SC's brake booster gets vacuum from the left side of the air box. I had similar experience many years ago when I didn't connect the vacuum line to the booster. It took too much leg muscles to stop the car and once the vacuum line was properly re-connected, brake was back to normal.

But if your brake booster unit has a vacuum leak problem, you have to address it first. Your vacuum leak could be in the vacuum hose lines to the booster. Good luck....

Yes thanks, I have a lot of troubleshooting to do, the line holds vaccum, but not well.
