What were the other car models?

How is that possible? When I bought my '87 911, the A/C had no freon. I bought a new R/D, added oil, drained oil out of the compressor and added new oil, pulled a vacuum and added Freeze-12. My A/C sucks. I have both front and rear condensors too. Don't say its the refrigerant because I've used Freeze-12 with great success in other cars and know many people who have too. How much vac did you pull? How long?

Mine's completely stock, original '79 equipment incl hoses, R12, and it will freeze me out. and we've been as hot or hotter than Alb. this summer.

How many ounces of R134a were put in the system?

It's been awhile, but if memory serves me well, it seems about 24 oz. or just slighlty less. Added until vent temps reached about 32 degrees at ambient of about 85. Any additional after that started to raise pressures above ideal, sorry, I don't remember the number, but was relying on Ron Maxwell of Rennaire and his expertise.

Thank you. Assuming you have a "triple black SC" and you added "a new Sanden, barrier hoses, ProCooler and Rennaire front serpentine cooler" my first thought is why not call the supplier of the system and ask them their opinion, but for the moment we'll assume that did or did not happen.

I'm wondering here at your number of ounces, 24? hmmm ? Something to ponder.

What would be most helpful is knowing what the high side and low side pressures are at a given ambient with: ac on, mid fan speed, in the sun, deck lid down, idling for say 10 minutes.

Do you think you can arrange that scenario and reply with that data?, a response such as: "at 85F, at idle, the high side was xxx psi and the low side was xx psi and the vent temp was xxF ?

I used it in an '85 Mercedes 300D and an '82 Mercedes 240D. Both have GM R-4 radial compressors. I used my Robinair 6cfm vacuum pump and pulled a vacuum for 1 hour before adding the refrigerant. Note that I also installed a new Kuehl R/D and added the proper amount of oil as mentioned in the Bentley manual. I also drained the oil from the compressor and refilled it. The front condenser fan is brand new. I just attributed the piss poor cooling to inadequate original equipment. I'm truly surprised people here have cold A/C using original equipment.

The sticker on my SC says "39 oz. R12" capacity. FWIW.

I have 2 condensors.

How much vac did you pull? It's pretty difficult to get enough at home.
