Is this a real Weissach?

http://http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/car/595948286.html
Is this a real Weissach edition?
What distinguishes the Weissach from a standard SC besides the interior trim?

Some info here:

http://www.pytlik.com/escape/porsche.html

The 911 SC Weissach, produced only in 1980, was a limited edition design and only 400 units were constructed (Some sources states 406. In either case, a small amount were constructed and even fewer are known to exist today). All were sold to the United States. 200 were painted in Pongee Beige Metallic while the remaining 200 received a metallic charcoal gray color. The interior had red/burgundy carpet and beige leather seats. The wheels were painted a platinum metallic color. An RS wing, also refeered to as a whaletail, was placed in the rear while the front received a new spoiler. All of the 911 SC Weissach's were coupes, had normally aspirated engines...

Even if it were just a normal SC with 76k miles, it would be a great deal.
So it's a limited edition car with some nice options makes it even better. In the end, this car will trade higher than an equal SC.

Great deal!?? Are you serious?? I would not go that far... look at the condition of the car... there is serious money to be spent in bringing it up to a decent level...

Agreed. It would be a great deal at $9500, but not 13K.

I did not know CIS was considered normally aspirated. I have a Weissach Edition that I purchased after it burned up. Someday maybe I'll finish it.

I agree. The interior is trashed, which makes you wonder what happened to the rest of the car. How does a passenger seat get like that anyways?

Anything without a turbo, supercharger, or nitrous is considered "normally aspirated". Turbo, supercharger, or nitrous means that it has "forced induction".

I'm familiar with this car, as well as the owner.

Mort became a paraplegic many years ago, I'd say over 15 years.

The car has been barely driven, and was maintained by Gary Solley, a local well known Porsche mechanic.

It is in very rough condition. I was looking at buying it in the mid 90's.

Mort is a great guy, very down to earth and very humble. I wish he was able to drive the car and enjoy it. You can see him in the background.

Wayne - thanks for that. I was really just poking fun at Wachuko who said the Weissach all were normally aspirated. Clearly, even in his link, it informs the reader that the car came with CIS.

My bad - should have read all of the posts before I opened my mouth. I thought normally aspirated meant carbs. NO? Sorry Wachucko.

no problem gairmo, it's a natural mistake.

However, your comment about the SC burning up begs the question, what happened? Do you know the particulars of that incident (what caused it, did the PO have a fire extinguisher, what kind and size, etc)? Details would help because it could happen to someone else.

$37K? Over 100,000 miles. That's sort of pricey.

It sounds like the only thing bad about this car is the interior. Not many miles, PPI could tell a lot more. If the body and paint are in good shape, maybe find out what it would cost to redue the intior and subtract some of the cost from the asking price. Then you will have a very nice car for a fair price, with brand new interior.

Not only that, it was appraised for over $70k...
