Porsche is gone. Thanks to all.

Loaded my baby on the car hauler yesterday. She's off to her new home in Santa Barbara, CA. Transforming this car from a stock commuter car to the beast she finally became was a tremendous 5 year experience. It wouldn't have happened...wouldn't have been possible without Wayne's BBS and without the input of you guys. I'd have never thought to transplant a 3.6 Varioram, would have never known about Steve Timmins, Cyntex, Steve Weiner, and the countless resources that helped me through the metamorphosis.

Recent changes in my life had moved my Porsche addicition to the back burner. Not complaining...they were mostly positive changes. Overall, life is good. She'll be in the hands of an ex-Navy pilot who owned his own experimental aircraft company through the 90's. He's flown FA-18's among other interesting things. The car will again see track-time and the auto-x course....which is exactly what I built it for. Please join me in wishing her well.

Here's a couple of parting photos:

Thanks again to all of you. I'll continue to lurk...but probably more in OT.

All the best,
Mike

Mike,
I'm sorry to hear that you sold the car, but if that's what you wanted, then congrats!

Beautiful car. I'm sure it was more fun.

However, I completely understand your situation. Did you turn him on to Pelican? Hopefully we'll be meeting him soon.

Later,
Mike

Mike , I think most of us as we all grow older ( notice I didn't say up ) things in our lives change .

I'm off to Jaquas this morning ( www.jaquas.com ) to sell some SxS's ( that's side by side for the unknowing ) that I thought I'd never sell . Funny thing this damn Porsche......while the engine is out being freshened up I thought I'd change cams .

Well , as you know about projects , my little project has snow balled also . Now I'm selling off some guns to help pay for my Porsche addiction .

Sorry to see your car go , but can understand . Sounds like it found a good home . Best to you and pop in from time to time , we'll leave the light on for you .

SxS

Life changes...yes. Do stick around Mike. After all, this board is a "family" of sorts. I'm not as active here as I once was, but I'm about...gotta keep tabs on the folks here. The car may no longer be an interest, but the people are...

Its been a real pleasure being able to help you build that car up to what it is and I wish you the very best in all your future endeavors.

It was/is a beautiful machine. Should lay to rest the whole tail on a Targa thing.

Thanks for all the comments guys. I've had a lump in my throat ever since my last drive over to meet the shipper. The buyer made the arrangements, so I'm not sure of the details regarding the move. The car is scheduled to arrive in CA today or tomorrow (Sunday or Monday).

Ingo and MikeZ....the new owner is a guy named Charlie DeRego. Goes by the nickname "Tunaman" (something to do with the old Charlie the tuna commercials I believe). He already has a Guards Red 930 that he says is pristine, albeit hot-rodded a bit. Do you know the guy? I sent him an e-mail with a link to this BBS as a resource. Hopefully he'll sign on. Another 3.6 Carrera on the left coast. You guys have all the luck!

Mike, I've always thought that your car has always been the mark to judge others by. It's been one of the main sources of inspiration for me and my 73' Targa. It has the perfect blend of original vs. modification. When you modify it's always easy to tip the scale and lose sight of the original vision but your car always maintained that perfect balance and that shows taste.

Yes time marches on and we have to march with it or risk getting run over.

Anyway, who knows maybe just a break is in order for you and you'll revisit Porsche ownership down the road. Time will tell.

Good Luck

I agree with the other guys here. Your (former) car is stunning! I REALLY like that front air dam/splitter. I've gotta get me one o' those!

You'll be back someday. I'm sure of it.
