Bump Steer Heim Source
 

I cracked one of my heim joints on my ERP bump steer kit. I beleive the turbo tie rod ends utilize a M14x-- thread. Anyone know where I can get a replacement heim instead of spending $300 on a whole new kit?

Contact ERP directly first who may refer you to Smart racing Products. (There is a question in regards to the quality of other sources so you may not want to chance it.) If the problem occured for no good reason I think you will find that ERP will replace it gratis.

+ Chris on this. Heim (or rose in Europe) joints come in many types, materials, and qualities. Be sure to use only the one specd by the kit manufacturer. Try to analyse why it failed; nine times out of ten an installation error is the culprit.

open any race tech magazine, go the back and look under the suppliers section, there is a wealth of stuff there. almost all supply motorsport exclusively. there are cheaper options out there, just look.

Can someone verify the thread size and pitch on the turbo tie rod end?

Ok, so I didn;t have much luck sourcing a replacement from ERP as I beleive they are out of business. I was talked into the Rebel Racing full set-up and it came in today.

My concern is that the rod end is much shorter on this kit than the one from ERP. It will work, but will only bite 4-5 threads on each side. Is anyone racing with this set-up or does anyone know where I can buy a different rod end with a longer shank?

I have that bump steer kit, but my car is still sitting on jack stands. I screwed them on the same number of turns as the ends I removed, but I have no idea what my toe setting is. I need to have the car corner balanced and aligned before I do anything as I'm replacing the entire suspension.

ERP is NOT out of business but they work through their distributors.

My suggestion is to communicate with one for any spare parts or support.

The rule-of-thumb for thread engagement is that it should be at least the diameter of the thread, in this case 14mm. The tie rod has a 2mm thread pitch, 4-5 turns is only 8-10mm of engagement.

Off-the-shelf rod ends are too short. I had long rod ends cu$tom made to my specs for my bump steer kit. I'd offer you a rod end but I don't think it will interchange with the ERP kit. My understanding is the ERP kit uses an inch-measure bearing with 14mm thread.
