My '89 alarm is set & turned off by the ignition/door key. Does that mean that if I locjk the door with the key, wait a while, and then try to start the car, it won't start?

Cory -

As you probably saw in the post the fix worked perfectly first time on my '86. If you like I'll take a pic tonight in order to confirm the connections involved. Other than that I'm sure some EEs are out there to assist.

Cheers,

Pete

Does anyone know the years that the alarm codes/modules changed?

It seems that this method will work for SC's and Carrera's - but the module was different.

I would think the 84 would be different with the introduction of the DME.

I have mine rigged right now but would like to remove all together...

Thanks Pete. I followed the directions exactly and it turns over but no spark. There is a chance it is due to some other ignition problem or unhooked wire or sensor. The wiring harness has been altered a lot from stock so it isn't as easy to troubleshoot, and I hate electrical work! I messed around with it for several hours yesterday and made no headway, probably something simple I'm missing

I feel your pain. Best of luck and here is a quick picture. At top right the Blue & Blue/Red are capped together and black wire is connected to the fuse block (blue wire)
