convertible front latch 89 3.2 cab
My convertible top won't release from the left front side when trying to lower the top. The right side releases fine but the left side won't allow the top to come down. Has anyone else had this problem and what can be done to fix it, or do I need to have it serviced at the dealer.

the motors are very easy to install, but not easy on the wallet. about $600 each.

So the problem then is one of the motors? Could it be a control, relay or sensor issue?

I am assuming that you are trying to open it on a VERY level surface. That being said, sometimes the small microswitches don't get engaged/disengaged properly. I have this happen about 1x/yearI either have to pull down on the top manually from the inside while pressing the close button OR push the top physically up a bit with the open button held before things will get going again.
