Hi and introductory message
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1188378681.jpg'Morning Everyone,
I unexpectedly find myself owning this '82 SC, my first Porsche. Perhaps like yourself, I hadn't planned on buying the car - but it's just such a lovely car I couldn't resist..! Am benefiting enormously from the collective knowledge avavilable here. This must be one of the best marque specific resources on the web? Kind regards from the UK, Simon. |
Welcome Simon !
Great to see yet another European aboard. Your car looks great! Good year model choice. Yes, like Porsche itself, for this forum there is no substitute. SmileWavy |

It's probably best if you start your own black sc pride sub group BSCWDP. ;) PS I bet I know what color you voted for in the favorite color poll.SmileWavy |
Nice car, welcome aboard!!!

Hopefully you will enjoy many years of porscheholicism, the sooner you get addicted the better.
however, should read my very recent post 'don't do this', it might just save you a whole lot of grief! regards justin welcome home.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1188491135.jpg |

I'm trying to figure out what year that car is: SC or Carrera. No fog lights, Euro H4's, ROW side markers, 7's & 8's... Hmmmm...
I think it looks black, but... ianc [embarrassed] Ooops! Reread first post. [/embarrassed] |

Thanks for all your kind observations. It's not actually a black car believe it or not... moss green, as evidenced by these images... Strangely I did already read that post, along with dozens and dozens of others. I thought it polite to at least familiarise oneself at a basic level before entering the forum, and found answers to most of the questions I had. Again, this must be the most informative and complete resource available! Simon |
Anyone done a xenon conversion recently by the way...?
Simon. |
BTW,
your car looks pretty spanking clean, but so did mine when i bought it, but despite coming from a dealer i still found inches of thick mud caked inside the wings. i would recommend taking each wheel off and thoroughly washing out all and any crap that is hidden in there, and there are lots of places for it to hide. then check the wheel arch edges, as that's the first place the paint comes away and rust starts. i put David's Zinc (it's got a number but i can't remember what that is off-hand) paint, which came out best in a test once, and coated any dodgy areas. since then haven't had a squeak of rust show reappear. you might also want to take out your lights and check the metal behind the lamp, as mine was rusting in there too. atb j |
Welcome Simon , I am happy for you !!! very nice 911 !!! happy driving !!! cheers, Peter
