New Guy Introduction

Hello Gents.

I have just joined the ranks as a 911 owner. Here is my new red '84 Carrera. It seems to be in very good shape, though the A/C doesn't work and I want to tinker with the shift linkages (surprise, surprise).

I have been lurking on the board here for a few days and am in awe of all of the great knowledge being shared.

I hope to be able to contribute some day, but at this point I will likely be posting more questions than answers.

I just wanted to say hi, and thanks to all of you who contribute so much knowledge

Chuck

Nice car. There are some guys in your area that get together every month for a drive. You will probably be hearing from them.

Love your car (but it's extremely red).

Welcome neighbor! Looks nice, who needs air conditioning with our balmy weather.
Keep an eye out for some local fun runs with the west Tennessee crowd.

Welcome. I'd put your car in my driveway anyday!

Nicely done! That's a beauty!
Welcome and stick around, I'm new too and the stuff I've learned in the limited time I've been here is already enormous.

bivenator 08-29-2007 08:31 AM

beautiful, but i'm biased to the red

Welcome, especially from another 1984 Guards Red Carrera owner.
I can't tell if the car has a chin spoiler from the picture. If you don't I'd suggest purchasing and installing one. I'm no aerodynamisist but plenty of threads about downforce and lack-there-of concerning the car with a whaletail or tea tray spoiler and no chin spoiler. In a nut shell... Not safe having the rear without the front but fine visa-versa, (too much down force on the rear and not enough in the front). And we'd hate to have anything happen to the beautiful car!!! Again welcome.

Welcome aboard...........Nice '84. BTW, first purchase needs to be a chin spoiler. Lots of info here on handling problems with a tail and no chin spoiler.
Good luck!SmileWavy

Thanks for the gouge on the front spoiler. I just did a search and now know what you are talking about.

Anyone know the best place to buy one?

I kind of thought about taking the whale tail off and going back to stock. Opinions?

Welcome! Very nice looking '84! BTW, '84 was the best year, especially the '84 RoW's! !:D

Does yours have A/C? What kind is it? If you'd rather PM me, be my guest.

I personally like the tail, so my vote would be to add the front spoiler. As far as purchasing one, you can always search the classifieds, or buy one new here on Pelican.

A/C is the next big question. It has factory air installed, but it is out of Freon. I have been reading all of the threads regarding A/C on this forum and plan on tackling that animal as soon as I gain more knowledge. Any suggestions?

Chuck
