Help:Is there a wrong way to put on a rotor

I took my distributer cap off today to clean the carbon trails off as well as the rotor,I put the rotor back on but does'nt seem to snap all the way down,I am also wondering if I turned the distributor slightly when putting the rotor back on.The bottom line is the car doesn't start. It will flood then backfire out the exhaust.I have a 75 with the bosche distributor and boshe points and rotor and weber carbs.Thanks..Brenthttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1188521597.jpg
