Hand Throttle Question

The hand throttle in my 69 911 seems to have become disconnected. It now has no effect when I move the lever back and forth. This forces me to hold my foot on the throttle until the engine warms up.

Is there an easy fix for this? I can see very little through the small hole in the left side of the tunnel provided to adjust the hand throttle. Do I need to remove the emergency brake base to fix it?

Try this thread, it's related to your question and may hold the answer.

The plastic connector piece has probably disintegrated.

Someone needs to produce an unbreakable aluminum replacement.

easy thing to do—I did mine two days ago after having had the part for almost a year. follow the thread posted and it's a snap. It's good to have the cruise control back.

Thanks for the pointers.

I removed the bolts from the handbrake assembly and was able to lift it enough to verify that the plastic piece is broken. However, I can't seem to lift it (or rotate it) far enough to get the C-clip to where I can take it off? Do I have to disconnect the emergency brake cables to do this? Any tricks?

I'd say (if my memory serves) that the HB ass'y needs to come out. Why not, anyway? You can lift the lever and hold the cables under the car so that reattaching is easier. Again, I don't remember exactly how I did this, but most of us that had an early car had a broken hand throttle at one time or another.

my cables are tight and I could get it rotated enough to get to it. my plastic piece was broken off so I had to work to fish it out. I found it so much easier to work on this with the drivers seat removed. someone else suggested it and they were correct. take you time, you should be able to do it.
