Wow!
Just fantastic. I do so miss the vintage events there in (well, nearby) Lakeville. Georgia has much to offer, but that drive from Hartford to Canton through Litchfield and and on to Limerock is magical. That area of Connecticut must be one of the best-kept secrets in driverdom. New Hartford, West Cornwall, Barkhamsted, Route 8 up the Mad River on through to Otis MA, Route 4 out to Duchess County & Amenia NY... I must plan a fall trip into that neck of the woods, and plan a route. Yes, I must...

Millbrook, ah yes. I used to drive up twice a year to Millbrook Winery to stock up
 .I do remember The European Car in Canton. He had a Shelby GT, in addition to several other vintage racers. It was the first time I ever sat in a Ferrari - a Dino-bodied 356 GTS, IIRC. What was his name...

Its a shame I didn't own my 911 until I moved back down to Fl. Not that GTIs and a GLH turbo were slouches on the back roads, I just would have loved to have the 911 up there with the windows down just wandering through some back roads. I had a girlfriend that lived in Torrington and I lived in Meriden and went to school in New haven. So I know rt 8 VERY well.
 This is actually in Maine...but you get the idea.

You bet. I had a place in New Hartford in the 80s, but ended up on the other side of the state in Mystic until 2 years ago. Both were special places, but there is nothing, literally nothing like an Autumn drive through Northwest Connecticut. I was a BMWCCA-er in those days, Connecticut Valley Chapter. Used to do get-togethers / concours in Peoples' Forest in Barkhamsted. Did you ever drive out north on 315 over the reservoir dam? Just an unbelievable view! I hope your girlfriend turned you on to the Gilson Theater in Winsted... it was a great spot until Conde Nast did an article, and poof! - 4 million New Yorkers in line 2 hours early...
