964 misfire

tried to post this earlier, but like attempting a search on here

my Mac' doesn't like it and shuts the browser down at once.

Anyway,

My 964 has an intermittent misfire which only occurs when revs fall below 2000RPM in traffic, at just about the point I should be looking to change down a gear to match road speed (if that makes sense)

A quick blip on gas pedal and the powers back up again,

the last service it had prior to my buying car mentioned some coroded electrical connections on cylinders 4&5,

and a specialist has suggested renewing the very ends in the loom that connect somehow,

he says the parts aren't dear (20 Dollars each) and labour isn't much either

My question,
what do they look like exactly

Richard

Hmmm,

I found (I think) the cause.

What I did was to remove the Two pin connectors on Cylinders 4 & 5
which as luck would have it are the easilly accesible ones.

Sprayed them liberally with Contact cleaner.

replaced both of them, and tried it.

It made it appreciably better, although not totally fixed hesitancy,
it gets more noticeable the warmer the engine becomes, I'd say after about Twenty minutes or so

The two pin connectors are likely the fuel injectors. It would behoove you to ensure that they are connected and working - 100%. I would bet it happens throughout the rpm range, but is simply less noticeable at higher rpms.

So let me better understand this then,

should I see a constant voltage at all times with a meter plugged in the end?

or unplug One at a time and drive car to try and detect a noticeable difference

sorry have I got this wrong?
